Recitals, Chamber Music & Artistic Planning

Described as playing with ‘glowing conviction’ (Financial Times) and a ‘ravishing tone and depth of timbre’ (The Independent), Jane’s expressive and refined performances have won critical acclaim, establishing her as one of the leading violinists of her generationShe has performed extensively at major festivals and concert halls throughout Europe, Asia and America. 

Jane has a long standing partnership with Jan Rautio in performances of duo repertoire and together with cellist Victoria Simonsen they play as the Rautio Piano Trio. The Trio has performed at the Wigmore Hall, Kings Place, South Bank, Bridgewater Hall, on BBC Radio 3, throughout the UK and in France, Austria, Germany and Israel. They have released two highly acclaimed CDs on Resonus Classics.

Recognised for her artistic planning and engaging performances, Jane collaborates across a variety of disciplines to produce and design innovative concerts. Current projects for season 20/21 are listed here.

Background

Jane won numerous prizes and young artist awards such as Anglo-Czech International Competition (first prize), Royal Over-Seas League Competition (prize winner) and the Tillett Trust, Park Lane Group and Maisie Lewis Wigmore Award. These led to concert opportunities and debut recitals at significant venues such as the Wigmore Hall, Martinu Hall (Prague), Edinburgh Festival and several appearances on BBC Radio 3. For her debut at the Purcell Room (Southbank centre) for the Park Lane Young Artist’s Platform, Jane played on the ‘Kustendyke’ Stradivarius violin, receiving glowing reviews. 

Jane held scholarships at both the Royal College of Music and Royal Academy of Music in London, graduating with the highest awards. She then regularly attended the International Musicians Seminar Open Chamber Music Festival in Prussia Cove (Artistic Director Steven Isserlis) meeting and playing with acclaimed musicians from around the globe.

Jane studied with Dona Lee Croft (RCM), Mica Comberti (baroque, RCM), Marianne Thorsen (RAM), Simon Standage (baroque, RAM) & David Takeno (Martin Musical Scholarship Award). She took masterclasses with Gerhard Schulz, Andreas Keller and Ference Rados at IMS Prussia Cove as holder of the English Speaking Union Scholarship. As a younger student she also had masterclasses with Bela Katona, Emmanuel Hurwitz and Ruggerio Ricci. Jane is particularly grateful to her primary teacher Dona Lee Croft for her ongoing artistic support during her career.
