Gut Strings & Historical Playing Styles

Jane has enjoyed nearly two decades of playing with orchestras and ensembles at the forefront of the early music profession, working with many first-generation pioneers of historical performance practices. She performs repertoire across the baroque, classical and romantic eras with a variety of ensemble sizes from chamber groups to orchestral and full-scale opera.

Jane made her concertmaster debut under Trevor Pinnock for the Handel Halle Festival and subsequently performed alongside him and soprano Lucy Crowe in two international chamber music tours, including BBC Radio 3 live broadcasts from the Wigmore Hall. She has since worked as guest leader with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment (directing, UK), London Bach Society (directing, UK), Glyndebourne (OAE community opera), European Brandenburg Ensemble (Trevor Pinnock, Germany), Early Opera Company (Christian Curnyn, UK), Korean National Opera (Matthew Halls, Seoul) and Casa da Musica (Laurence Cummings, Portugal).

Jane performs with English Baroque Soloists conducted by Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Arcangelo directed by Jonathan Cohen, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and Theatre of the Ayre with lutenist Elizabeth Kenny.

She has enjoyed multiple international tours, radio broadcasts and recordings. Her performances have taken her to all the major European concert halls such as Vienna Konzerthaus, Paris Philharmonie, Milan La Scala and Amsterdam Conzertgebouw and further afield at the Lincoln Centre New York, Sydney Opera House and venues in Hong Kong and South Korea.
